For my fifth semester project Ferdinand Dauzenroth, Luisa Münzer, Leonie Seidel, and I researched alternative materials. We noticed that the available material databases either focused on technical data or sustainability. We worked closely with experts from material laboratories and research and in 2021 we founded ROMAR - the Rosenheim material archive for innovative materials.
Our work culminated in the creation of a database which, in addition to the technical data, compares the materials with regard to their sustainability. We examined material components, production, life cycle and the end of life aspects as the main criteria of sustainability.
In addition to creating the database, we created preliminary material proposals for a real student project based on our research. With the positive reviews from ROMAR, Ferdinand, Leonie, and Luisa are currently working on making ROMAR available for all students of our college.
