The Japanese-Bavarian fusion restaurant kiretsu [japanese: crack] is designed for multicultural tapas and experimental drinks. The kiretsu not only offers a unique culinary experience, but also creates an intimate atmosphere through the specific room and lighting plan. The overall design was generated from the fragment image of a ceramic tile
The concept is based on traditional Japanese Kintsugi fragments, in which broken objects are put back together with gold. The aesthetic is not based on flawlessness, but is found in the imperfect, which is emphasized through the golden seam. kirestsu not only emphasizes the design process, it is orchestrated as a place where the diversity of the guests comes together and forms a community.
Light plays a significant role in the design and atmosphere of the kiretsu. In addition to the standard requirements for occupational safety and emergency lighting, lighting planning is mainly focused on the atmosphere and
precise accentuation, highlighting material structures, shapes and surfaces as well as the cuisine. The crack-shaped ceiling lighting is one of the prominent lighing designs, which guides the view.
